Work Environment
The position is entirely onsite at our rehabilitation center, which is designed to encourage collaboration among a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. You will work alongside two experienced physical therapists and one physical therapist assistant. Our facility is designed not only for rehabilitation but as a space for innovative therapy practices, allowing for constant interaction and teamwork to achieve optimal patient results.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify patient needs, set relevant therapy goals, and develop tailored treatment plans that apply a variety of therapeutic techniques.
- Manage patient workload effectively, ensuring to provide quality sessions for one patient per hour, while maintaining detailed documentation of treatments and progress.
- Deliver evidence-based care that caters to the individual situations of patients, continuously adjusting therapeutic approaches to enhance movement and mobility.
- Promote patient independence by designing and implementing tailored fitness and wellness programs aimed at improving strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
- Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including physicians and mental health providers, to optimize patient care and coordinate treatment plans.
- Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) software such as WebPT for tracking treatment plans, documenting progress, and maintaining clear communication with patients and healthcare teams.
- Educate patients about alternative non-surgical options while minimizing reliance on medications, providing cost-effective treatments that enhance their functional capabilities.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will primarily be working with a diverse patient population consisting of individuals dealing with orthopedic conditions resulting from injury, surgery, or chronic pain. Many patients come seeking rehabilitation post-operative care or for functional improvements to restore daily activities. By offering personalized treatment strategies and motivational supports, you will directly influence their recovery journeys and advancements toward independence.
Qualifications
- A Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited institution is required.
- Certification as a licensed Physical Therapist in New York State is essential.
- A clean record with no instances of board actions or disciplinary measures against your license.
- Proficiency in manual therapy techniques and experience in developing exercise programs tailored to individual patient needs.
- Technical proficiency in navigating EMR platforms, specifically WebPT, highlights your capability to engage in an organized treatment workflow.
Preferred Experience
