Overview: The Quality Control Inspector will play a critical role in ensuring quality at the project site. Reporting to the site Quality Manager and receiving indirect guidance from the Senior Quality Manager, the inspector will conduct and document inspections aligned with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). This position is vital for maintaining meticulous records that ensure traceability to field locations, ultimately reducing errors in reporting. The Quality Control Inspector is expected to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with owners, owner's representatives, and company site supervision to support our quality goals.

Travel:

Travel may be required up to 100%, necessitating direct presence on project sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit familiarity with a comprehensive range of general construction processes, including protocols for testing laboratories, soils and concrete testing, mechanical, welding, and structural steel observations.
  • Methodically assist the project team in ensuring complete documentation of Project QC and adherence to procedures to mitigate project risks.
  • Read and interpret construction plans and specifications, identifying errors or discrepancies for resolution.
  • Conduct regular QA/QC meetings, maintaining logs of deficiencies and punch lists in designated job folders.
  • Prepare detailed reports on inspection activities.
  • Coordinate inspection activities with local, state, and governmental agencies, as well as third-party testing processes.
  • Differentiate between project specifications and standard codes, ensuring compliance with minimum requirements to protect MasTec Industrial's interests.
  • Consult with the Director of Quality on complex issues beyond the inspector's expertise.
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and stay current on job-related certifications.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year in a QA/QC role, with education towards an engineering or technical degree as an acceptable substitute.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the construction environment.
  • Experience with B31.3, clean room procedures, and oxygen cleaning is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction trades, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with construction management software platforms and proven capabilities with Bluebeam Revu.
  • Preferred familiarity with Smartsheet and InEight software.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of health and safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Ability to prepare reports and documentation on quality-related issues.
  • Effective presentation skills for engaging with project managers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to foster positive relationships with team members and external parties.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, able to work independently and ensure the adequacy of project resources.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills for addressing quality incidents.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work up to 12 hours in variable outdoor conditions.
  • Physical strength to lift objects up to 50 pounds and perform manual tasks.
  • Capable of working in confined and uneven spaces, at heights, and under various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.

Hours:

This is a full-time position, typically requiring 50 hours of work per week, subject to the needs of the project.
