Role Overview
Deconstruction Workers are skilled members of CO Adaptive’s Build team responsible for performing safe, efficient, and high-quality deconstruction work across CO Adaptive’s project scopes. This role builds upon the apprentice skill set, requiring greater technical proficiency, autonomy, and leadership in supporting jobsite operations and collaborating with team members and apprentices.
Core Responsibilities
Technical Deconstruction Work
Safely assess deconstruction situations and determine the appropriate process and sequencing.
Proficiently remove and install doors, windows, and building materials as designated by the supervisor.
Implement and master CO Adaptive’s deconstruction scopes, including cataloging, packing, storage, and waste stream management.
Load and unload materials for transport and storage.
Tools + Equipment
Use all expected tools proficiently (table saw, circular saw, jigsaw, Sawzall, drills/drivers, compressors, pneumatic nailers, miter saw).
Maintain tools and equipment and communicate repair needs to the supervisor.
Jobsite Operations
Read and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications independently.
Update task lists and communicate scope changes or delays to the supervisor.
Maintain site safety and security, including end-of-day site closure.
Keep the jobsite clean, organized, and safe at all times.
Leadership + Collaboration
Support a collaborative and inclusive environment by mentoring apprentices and modeling CO Adaptive’s core values.
Maintain strong working relationships with peers, supervisors, and trade partners.
Reporting + Collaboration
Delegation to: Apprentice Deconstruction Workers
Keep informed + coordination with: Deconstruction Workers, Deconstruction Lead
Keep informed and seek high level decisions from: Director of Building, Deconstruction Lead, Principals
