Job Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION
In collaboration with the assigned project(s) construction operations and sales leadership teams and under the direction of the System Integrity Manager, this role is primarily responsible for the guidance, oversight and ultimately final approvals for energizing equipment and all liquid/air testing and cleaning activities including but not limited to; filling, flushing, testing and draining. This roles oversight extends to all hydronics systems, specialty exhaust and grease duct systems and includes any associated third-party activities. The System Integrity inspector is an invaluable extension of the company’s safety efforts whose primary objective is mitigating potential hazards related to pressurization and energization activities. The overarching goal of the System Integrity team is to eliminate risks to personnel and property, ensure successful testing outcomes, and verify that all ACCO workmanship strictly complies with company quality standards, approved drawings and the client’s expectations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Lead, oversee and approve all system integrity activities to ensure quality standards and safety protocols are met in an effort to achieve zero defects or incidents
Operations
- Perform project specifications reviews to identify quality risks and make strategic recommendations to site management.
- Assist in the development of testing and flushing plans including mitigation measures for high-risk activities.
- As an SME assist in developing site-specific Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and other related documents for all fluid and air operations, including system filling, draining, flushing and pressure testing.
- Provide final review and written approval of MOP’s prior to starting any filling, draining, testing and flushing activities.
- As an SME assist in development of MOPs for equipment energization including transfer of power and Lock-out Tag-out procedures.
- Provide final review and written approval of equipment energization MOPs prior to start-up.
- Conduct regular job walks for upcoming system integrity activities reviewing related documentation and inspecting installations. Communicate any deficiencies to the site leadership.
- Prior to final system inspection, audit critical project documentation—including pre-test checklists, torque logs, PTPs, SOPs/MOPs and QC signoffs ensuring 100% completion and proper storage in the projects Box folder.
- Perform a final thorough inspection of each System Integrity activity confirming and documenting the identified section/area in question is properly prepared, completed and approved to execute the activity.
- Conduct random project walks monitoring field installations to ensure compliance with ACCO's quality standards, project documents and client expectations.
- Identify issues and participate in investigations and solutions. Prepare and distribute any internal deficiency reports as needed.
- Exercise the explicit responsibility and authority to stop any work when quality is about to be, or is being, compromised.
Strategic Planning & Risk Mitigation
- Ensure testing processes mitigation measures minimize risks to field personnel and property while ensuring successful testing outcomes.
- Participate in quality investigations to analyze root causes and develop recommendations for corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
- Actively participate in health, safety, quality, and environmental processes, including daily safety meetings, to support a goal of ZERO injuries or incidents.
Personnel Management & Development
- Develop the abilities of subordinates through targeted goal setting, training, and coaching.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for project personnel regarding industry knowledge, code compliancy, quality and ACCO policies.
Collaboration
- Participate in regular project reviews with project staff, senior management, and the client.
- Promote ACCO in a positive manner, developing a partnering relationship with the client to reduce costs while improving safety and reliability.
- Work closely and collaboratively with local ACCO leadership and onsite Superintendents, System Operations Lead, QA/QC Inspectors, Safety Team, and Project Management.
Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, Etc.)
- Highly motivated individual willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong industry knowledge with a deep understanding of the Process Industry (including process piping, mechanical piping, plumbing, high purity materials, cleanliness levels, and protocols).
- Highly skilled in reading and interpreting project plans, specifications, equipment submittals and other documents related to mechanical piping, plumbing, air systems, electrical, controls and operational sequencing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complicated hydronic systems.
