About the Role
SimplePractice is looking for two Clinical Operations Leads to serve as embedded clinical voices at the intersection of technology and care — one focused on AI development and regulatory standards, and one on product development and clinical quality. Both roles sit within the Clinical Operations arm of our Clinical Division and are built for licensed mental health clinicians who believe that the best health technology is shaped by practitioners, not just built for them.
Across both tracks, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams — product, engineering, data science, legal, marketing, and compliance — to ensure that what we build reflects the highest standards of clinical evidence, ethical integrity, and regulatory compliance. This is not a passive review function. You will be in the room shaping decisions, challenging assumptions, and holding us accountable to a standard that clinicians and patients deserve.
What Sets Each Track Apart
AI Regulatory Standards
This track is designed for a clinician who is energized by frontier technology and wants to help define what responsible clinical AI looks like. Day to day, you will:
Review AI-generated clinical content, prompts, and features through a rigorous clinical and ethical lens
Contribute to internal frameworks governing how clinical AI is built, reviewed, and deployed
Partner with AI product and engineering teams to embed clinical standards throughout the development lifecycle
Bring cross-disciplinary knowledge of ethics, regulatory requirements, and payer standards to AI design decisions
Product Clinical Quality
This track is designed for a clinician who wants to shape product decisions from the inside and champion the practitioner experience. Day to day, you will:
Review product documentation, clinical workflows, and feature designs with a critical practitioner eye
Participate actively in product roadmap discussions as a clinical advocate and standards partner
Translate complex clinical concepts for non-clinical audiences across product, marketing, and engineering
Champion the real-world workflow needs of our clinician customers at every stage of product development
What You'll Do (Both Roles)
Serve as the go-to clinical expert across cross-functional teams, providing guidance that ensures products meet clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards
Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities in features and documentation aligned with evidence-based care
Represent the broader mental health field — including multi-disciplinary ethics, insurance and payer requirements, and clinical quality standards across licensure types
Advance SimplePractice's commitment to responsible, practitioner-centered design
What We're Looking For
Both roles require:
Active Licensure: LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Licensed Psychologist, or equivalent
Clinical Experience: Meaningful direct practice experience with strong working knowledge of clinical documentation, workflows, and evidence-based care
Quality Supervision Background: Experience overseeing or monitoring clinical quality through supervision, peer review, or clinical program oversight
Cross-Discipline Fluency: Familiarity with ethics codes across disciplines, insurance and billing standards, and cross-professional clinical standards
Regulatory Awareness: Working knowledge of the regulatory, legal, and ethical frameworks governing mental health care and clinical documentation
Clinical Science Grounding: Familiarity with evidence-based practice frameworks, clinical research methodology, or quality improvement in clinical settings
The AI Regulatory Standards track additionally values:
Critical Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess AI outputs with rigor — identifying not just what is wrong, but why, and what a higher standard would look like
Ethics or Compliance Focus: Experience with clinical ethics consultation, compliance review, or regulatory affairs in a healthcare context
The Product Clinical Quality track additionally values:
Collaborative Communication: Demonstrated ability to translate complex clinical concepts for non-clinical stakeholders and engage constructively with product and business teams
Insurance Payer Knowledge: Deeper expertise in managed care, u…
