Position Summary
The Facilities Technician is responsible for conducting and/or coordinating facilities maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor Muskegon facilities systems for proper operation and make repairs as necessary, coordinate with the appropriate contractor if required.
- HVAC
- Fire suppression/alarms
- Security systems
- Air compressors/dryers
- Cooling towers
- Cranes
- Dock levelers/locks
- Plumbing/Backflow prev enters
- Electrical/lighting
- Parking lots
- Roofs
- Doors/locks
- Landscaping/fencing
- Cleaning services
- Snow plowing
- Waste hauling
- Compactors/balers
- Ice/water machines
- Conduct Muskegon facilities preventative maintenance as scheduled, coordinate with the appropriate contractor as needed.
- Assist in coordinating and managing Muskegon facilities capital projects as needed.
- All other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Knowledge and hands‑on skills with facilities systems.
- Appropriate mathematics, reading, and writing skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Completion of all other duties as assigned by the department manager.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Tools sufficient for facilities systems.
- Lifting weights of variable sizes.
- Frequent bending or twisting.
- Standing, walking or sitting for 8 hours, possibly 12 hours per day.
