Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting operations and strengthen financial reporting across the organization in West Des Moines, Iowa. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for a detail-oriented candidate who brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound analytical judgment, and a focus on accuracy in a deadline-driven environment. The role will contribute to close activities, reconciliations, reporting support, and ongoing efforts to improve efficiency through thoughtful process enhancements and technology-enabled practices.Responsibilities:• Prepare and evaluate journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules to ensure accurate monthly financial results.• Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities by completing assigned accounting tasks on schedule.• Reconcile balance sheet and bank accounts, research discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items promptly.• Assist in compiling financial statements and internal management reports with clear and reliable supporting data.• Review operating results, identify meaningful fluctuations, and investigate variances to support informed decision-making.• Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger while following established accounting standards, policies, and internal controls.• Partner with audit stakeholders by organizing documentation, answering inquiries, and supporting external audit requests.• Document accounting procedures and recommend workflow improvements, including opportunities to apply automation or AI-driven tools where appropriate.
