Research Assistant / Phlebotomist (Part-Time)
Compensation: $17–$19/hour (based on experience)
Location: Riverview, FL (Tampa Bay)
Job Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
Schedule: Part-time to start, with the potential for full-time as clinic volume and performance support expansion.
The clinic currently anticipates approximately 18–24 hours of work per week initially, with opportunities for additional hours as patient volume continues to grow. Candidates with availability to support approximately three clinic days per week are strongly preferred, particularly Tuesday through Thursday, although actual scheduling may vary based on clinic needs and mutual availability.

Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Clinical Research Assistant / Phlebotomist to support the daily execution of clinical trials.
This position begins on a part-time basis with significant opportunity for advancement as our clinic continues to grow. Work assignments and scheduling will vary based on clinic activity, study demands, and mutual availability.
Previous clinical research experience is not required. We are looking for someone with strong clinical skills, excellent patient rapport,* and current phlebotomy competency. If you have the right clinical foundation, we'll teach you the clinical research side.*
Candidates must be comfortable performing phlebotomy and providing patient care for both adult and pediatric participants.
This is a hands-on clinical position involving direct interaction with research participants and study staff in a fast-paced clinical research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy for research blood sample collection (required)
- Assist with participant visits and study procedures
- Prepare examination rooms and study materials for participant visits
- Accurately document study information in source documents and electronic systems
- Process laboratory specimens and prepare study shipments
- Assist with regulatory binders, logs, and study documentation
- Maintain clinic supplies, laboratory inventory, and study equipment
- Support the Principal Investigator and clinical research staff with daily study operations
- Follow Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HIPAA, and study protocols
- Participate in sponsor visits, monitoring visits, staff training, and quality improvement activities
Qualifications Required
- Current phlebotomy competency
- Strong clinical and patient interaction skills
- Comfortable performing phlebotomy and providing care for both adult and pediatric participants
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable learning electronic systems and study documentation
- Professional, dependable, adaptable, and eager to learn
Preferred
- Clinical research experience
- Healthcare experience
- Associate degree or CNA, LPN, etc. or higher
- Bilingual (especially Spanish) a plus
