Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Step-Down Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients transitioning from intensive care units to less acute settings, ensuring a smooth and safe recovery process. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs, neurological status, and overall condition during step-down care.
  • Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient data, medication administration, and progress notes.
  • Manage complex cases involving acute pain management, trauma medicine, or infectious disease care with professionalism and precision.
  • Conduct patient education on post-discharge care, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain the highest standards of infection control and safety procedures.

Experience

  • Proven critical care experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma center settings is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for medical documentation and coding (ICD-10/ICD-9).
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Skilled in performing physical examinations, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
  • Knowledge of advanced nursing procedures such as suturing, ostomy care, ventilator management, tube feeding, and dialysis is advantageous.
  • Background in acute care environments like emergency medicine or hospital medicine enhances your ability to respond swiftly to urgent situations.
