Credit Underwriter

A client of Insight Global is looking to bring on a credit underwriter. This team is a part of M/I Financial, and they work directly with the branch managers to receive and approve loan submissions from the loan officers. The underwriter decides if the buyer is approved for the loan by checking credit scores, income, and employment. They will be communicating with the branch managers as well as loan officers and loan processors throughout the process. They will be working primarily with conventional loans (75% of the time) and some government financing (25% of the time).

Day to Day

• Receive and review mortgage loans applications from loan officers
• Approve loans or send back if they need to be resubmitted
• Check credit scores (typical credit score is 740), income, and employment of buyer
• Communicate with loan officers, processors, and branch managers
• Deal with any loans that the branches can't handle / anything that isn't automated

Required Skills & Experience:

• 3+ years underwriting with conventional or government loans
• DE cert. with FHA
• VA SAR cert.
