The Arc of Ocean County is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide clinical oversight and healthcare coordination for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities receiving residential services. This position offers an opportunity to combine nursing expertise with advocacy, education, and leadership while helping individuals maintain optimal health and quality of life.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse serves as a key clinical resource for individuals, families, residential staff, and healthcare providers, ensuring that medical needs are addressed through coordinated, person-centered care.

Essential Responsibilities

Clinical Services & Healthcare Coordination

Conduct health assessments and monitor the overall medical status of individuals receiving services.

Collaborate with physicians, specialists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and coordinate individualized healthcare plans.

Serve as an advocate during medical appointments and assist with follow-up recommendations and treatment plans.

Coordinate access to medical, dental, psychiatric, behavioral health, and pharmaceutical services.

Provide education and support to individuals, family members, guardians, and staff regarding healthcare needs and treatment recommendations.

Monitor health-related concerns and intervene appropriately to support positive health outcomes.

Nursing Leadership & Staff Development

Provide medication administration training and clinical education to residential staff.

Supervise and support Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Medical Case Managers, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and Certified Home Health Aides (CHHAs).

Offer clinical consultation and guidance to interdisciplinary team members.

Assist with monitoring medical documentation and ensuring compliance with nursing standards and agency policies.

Participate in team meetings and contribute clinical expertise to service planning discussions.

Program Oversight & Quality Assurance

Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized healthcare plans.

Monitor trends related to health services and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Assist with reviewing and updating clinical procedures, nursing protocols, and regulatory compliance standards.

Provide clinical support and consultation to vocational and day program services when healthcare concerns arise.

Ensure services are delivered in accordance with applicable healthcare regulations and best practices.

Communication & Regulatory Compliance

Maintain effective communication with agency leadership, healthcare providers, support teams, families, guardians, and regulatory entities.

Complete and maintain required nursing documentation, reports, and records.

Report significant medical concerns promptly and ensure timely follow-up.

Participate in audits, licensing reviews, inspections, and investigations as required.

Support compliance with standards established by DDD, DHS, DCF, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
