Job Summary

This position serves as a subject matter expert in accounting policy and financial reporting within the Financial Reporting Branch. The incumbent leads or supports general ledger reconciliation, trial balance preparation, financial statement development, and ensures accurate external reporting to Treasury.

Major Duties

The duties may include, but are not limited to: Reviews and reconciles the agency’s general ledger, trial balances, and subsidiary ledgers, identifying and resolving discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting. Leads or coordinates the preparation and analysis of agency financial statements, including eliminations, imputed costs, and other required supporting components. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of external financial reporting and GTAS submissions to Treasury, collaborating with OCFO and Financial Management Services. Serves as a subject matter expert and liaison with OIG, OCFO, and Department level committees on accounting policy, audit issues, and financial statement requirements. Provides expert guidance on the design, configuration, and maintenance of financial and accounting systems to ensure compliance with federal accounting standards and agency policy.
