Job Overview

Charis Language Immersion Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and dedicated Elementary School Teacher to join our growing team. Our school offers exceptionally small class sizes (2–7 students), allowing teachers to build meaningful relationships and provide individualized instruction. This job will be part time for half the day teaching a mixed group. For example, a 3rd-4th grade class from 8:30AM - 11:30AM. Pay will be part time hourly pay as 1099 with no benefits. The amount will be determined based on qualifications and prior experience.

Charis is a Mandarin-English dual language Christian school where students spend half of each day learning through Mandarin immersion and the other half in English instruction. The English Teacher is responsible for teaching an integrated curriculum that includes reading, writing, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Develop curriculum maps, weekly lesson plans, and instructional materials.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records, including weekly progress logs.
• Differentiate instruction and provide individualized support for students with varying learning needs, including ADHD, ASD, and other learning differences.
• Maintain a structured, positive classroom environment that promotes academic excellence and Christ-like character.
• Assign and communicate homework expectations to students and parents.
• Build strong partnerships with parents through regular communication regarding student progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support school-wide initiatives and foster a unified learning environment.
• Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
• Support and model the mission, vision, and values of Charis Language Immersion Academy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
• Current or previous teaching certification preferred but not required.
• Experience teaching elementary-aged students in a classroom setting preferred.
• Experience differentiating instruction for students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to a dynamic school environment.
• Passion for helping children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
• A born-again believer in Jesus Christ who actively supports the school's Statement of Faith, or someone who is genuinely open and receptive to the Christian faith and willing to uphold the school's mission and values.
• Ability to speak a non-English second language is not required.
