About the Role
Well by Messer is seeking a Surgical Technologist / Medical Assistant to join our growing, patient-centered team. This unique role combines both clinical and surgical responsibilities, supporting our providers in the office and procedure room.
The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This individual will play a key role in delivering an exceptional patient experience while helping ensure the safe and efficient operation of our office-based surgical suite.
You will work closely with providers across endocrinology, internal medicine, women's health, and plastic surgery, assisting with both clinical care and surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
Medical Assistant Duties
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and intake information.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and diagnostic testing.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen processing.
- Administer medications and provide basic life support as appropriate.
- Document accurately in the electronic health record (Practice Fusion experience preferred).
- Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and patient communications.
- Educate patients regarding treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
- Support front desk operations as needed, including scheduling, answering phones, and managing records.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinical environment.
Surgical Technologist Duties
- Prepare operating and procedure rooms prior to cases.
- Ensure proper sterilization and organization of surgical instruments and supplies.
- Assist with room turnover and maintenance of sterile technique.
- Scrub and assist during office-based surgical procedures.
- Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of surgical supplies.
- Participate in quality assurance and infection control initiatives.
- Support compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and office-based surgery regulations.
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification and/or Surgical Technologist certification.
- Phlebotomy certification required.
- Prior surgical, procedural, dermatology, plastic surgery, or operating room experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, sterile technique, and infection control.
- Experience with EHR systems (Practice Fusion a plus).
- Experience with prior authorizations preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work collaboratively in a team environment.
