Clara is a queer- & woman-owned, community-driven cocktail bar and performance space in Wicker Park. We’re a home for creativity, conversation, live music, and thoughtful hospitality. Our space celebrates individuality, authenticity, and people showing up as they are, whether that’s on stage, behind the bar, or while sipping cocktails in our lounge.

The Role

We’re looking for a Server / Bartender who brings both skill and heart to their work. This role will be comprised of both table service and bar service. The emphasis is on thoughtful guest interaction, attention to detail, and contributing to the overall vibe of the space.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately and efficiently
• Provide attentive, thoughtful table service from greeting through close
• Take food and drink orders with care, clarity, and timeliness
• Use the Toast POS system for orders, payments, and tab management
• Guide guests through the menu, offering recommendations when appropriate
• Engage guests warmly and professionally, contributing to a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere
• Manage multiple tables or bar guests while staying attentive and detail-oriented
• Handle cash and card transactions accurately
• Restock bar and service supplies (glassware, garnishes, beverages, etc.)
• Maintain a clean, organized service area in line with food safety & sanitation standards
• Practice responsible alcohol service in compliance with all local and state regulations
• Work collaboratively with fellow servers, bartenders, managers, and staff
• Support smooth service during busy nights, live music, and special events

What We’re Looking For

• Prior experience in food & beverage or hospitality (bar, restaurant, event, or similar)
• BASSET certification (required upon hire)
• Comfort using POS systems (Toast experience is a plus)
• Strong time management and multitasking skills
• Friendly, professional communication style
• Knowledge of food safety and proper handling procedures
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• A team-oriented mindset and willingness to jump in where needed
• An appreciation for arts & music! It's a huge part of our culture

Bonus Experience (Not Required, But Loved)

• Sommelier training or wine knowledge
• Cocktail creation or menu development experience
• Experience in live music or event-driven spaces

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour
