Business Assistant
American Family Dentistry - Collierville is looking for a Business Assistant to join our team!
This is a full-time opportunity working in a busy dental office environment. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, professional, and able to provide an excellent patient experience from check-in to check-out.
Schedule
Monday - Thursday: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Friday: 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Responsibilities
The Business Assistant will support daily front office operations, including scheduling and rescheduling appointments, verifying insurance benefits, collecting patient payments, presenting treatment plans, submitting insurance claims, and helping patients understand their financial options.
This role also includes answering phones, greeting patients, maintaining accurate patient records, supporting office flow, and partnering with the clinical team to keep the day running smoothly.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, professional, and comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Dental front office experience is preferred, especially experience with insurance verification, patient collections, scheduling, and dental software.
Requirements
Previous dental or healthcare front office experience preferred
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to multitask and stay organized
Comfortable working with patients and team members
Completion of TB testing prior to starting employment

More About The Role
- Greet and welcome patients as they enter the office to create a great first impression of our team
- Manage front office duties, including answering phones, checking office mail and email, communicating with patients and insurance companies
- Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and records
- Schedule and confirm appointments for multiple providers in the office
- File patient insurance claims and follow up on outstanding claims, verification of benefits and explanation of coverage
- Post insurance and patient payments and process accounts receivables
- Review treatment plan fees and payment options with patients
- Partner with the providers and team to implement Heartland Dental systems to optimize office potential

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience working in a fast-paced and customer-centric environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- The position will have access to minimum PHI necessary for performing job-related functions; regular HIPAA training, aligning with the specific role and responsibilities, will be required; and the individual will need to protect PHI and maintain data safeguards.
Preferred Experience
- 1+ years of experience in a dental or medical setting
- 1+ years of experience with insurance billing and accounts receivable
- Dentrix or other dental software experience
