Job Title: Welder and Fabricator
Job Description
This role involves working in a structural steel fabrication shop to produce metal components such as stairs and railings. You will move materials, measure, cut, grind, fit, and weld metal pieces using a variety of tools and equipment, ensuring all parts are aligned and fitted to precise specifications. Safety and teamwork are core priorities in this industrial fabrication environment.
Responsibilities

Fabricate metal components such as stairs, railings, and other architectural pieces from structural steel.
•
Move and handle materials safely within the fabrication shop using appropriate tools and equipment.
•
Accurately measure materials using a tape measure, including reading 1/16", 1/8", 1/4", and 1/2" increments.
•
Cut metal using saws, torch cutters, and plasma cutters according to blueprint specifications.
•
Grind, fit, and align parts to meet detailed fabrication and quality requirements.
•
Perform MIG welding and other welding processes as needed to assemble and complete metal structures.
•
Interpret and work from blueprints and shop drawings to ensure correct dimensions and fit-up.
•
Use hand tools, power tools, and industrial fabrication equipment such as press brakes and ironworkers.
•
Conduct fitting and weld preparation to ensure clean, accurate, and secure welds.
•
Follow all shop safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
•
Collaborate with team members to complete production goals and support a cooperative, team-oriented culture.
•
Participate in and successfully complete blueprint, weld, and bend tests as required by the role.
Work Environment
Work takes place in a structural steel fabrication shop that produces architectural components such as stairs and railings. This is a first-shift position with typical hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The environment is an active industrial setting that involves working around fabrication equipment such as welders, saws, torches, plasma cutters, press brakes, and ironworkers. Team members follow established safety practices and use appropriate personal protective equipment suitable for a fabrication and welding shop.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bernalillo, NM.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
