A client of ours located in Louisville, Kentucky is seeking a Legal Assistant to join their team. This position is responsible for managing administrative and case support processes, ensuring the accurate preparation and filing of legal documents, and maintaining seamless communication between attorneys, clients, and courts throughout the lifecycle of a case. The ideal candidate will have the ability to handle complex scheduling requests, resolve intricate document management discrepancies, and ensure all strict court deadlines are met with precision and integrity. This role is key in streamlining case management workflows and contributing to the overall success of the firm’s trial practice. This position is a full-time permanent opportunity offering a competitive base salary and benefits package

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Real Estate Closings: Prepare closing disclosures, order title commitments, request payoff statements, and schedule signing appointments for buyers, sellers, and lenders.
  • Draft Legal and Transfer Documents: Prepare initial drafts of deeds, mortgages, lease agreements, wills, trusts, and powers of attorney for attorney review.
  • Manage Litigation Deadlines and Pleadings: Track court deadlines, draft basic legal documents (such as answers, motions, and discovery requests), and e-file pleadings for insurance defense cases.
  • Facilitate the Probate Process: Prepare and file necessary court petitions to open estates, track inventory deadlines, and communicate with executors and beneficiaries.
  • Maintain Master Calendars: Manage a high-volume calendar across three attorneys, ensuring no conflicts between real estate closing dates, court hearings, and client consultations.
  • Organize and Review Case Files: Order, organize, and summarize medical records and billing histories for insurance defense claims, while maintaining meticulous physical and digital files for all three practice areas.
