A well-established commercial construction company with a long-standing reputation in the industry is seeking a Construction Project Accountant to support large-scale commercial projects in the Sacramento area. This organization has been operating successfully for decades and offers a stable environment, strong employee tenure, and the opportunity to support high-profile construction projects.

We are looking for someone who can step in quickly, manage multiple priorities, and work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and operations leadership.

Responsibilities

Process construction-related accounts payable and subcontractor invoices

Prepare and manage owner billings, including AIA billing documentation

Support accounts receivable and payment tracking

Handle preliminary notices, lien releases, and conditional/unconditional waivers

Maintain accurate job costing and committed cost tracking

Ensure project compliance documentation is current, including insurance and licensing requirements

Partner closely with Project Managers and Operations leadership regarding billing and project financials

Maintain project accounting records within related construction ERP systems

Assist with project-related sales tax tracking and documentation

Qualifications

5+ years of construction project accounting experience

Strong understanding of commercial construction accounting processes

Experience with AIA billing, job costing, lien releases, and preliminary notices

Ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Additional Preferred Experience

Commercial construction project exposure

Experience supporting large-scale projects such as retail centers, entertainment venues, mixed-use developments, or similar commercial projects

Schedule

Standard onsite schedule Monday-Friday

Some flexibility available regarding start/end times
