Electrician III will plan and lay out, direct and inspect the work of a crew of electricians and other workers engaged in electrical installation and repair work. Duties include requisitioning, using, supplying, or handling materials, tools, and equipment necessary to accomplish these duties. May install or service streetlights, intercom systems, or electrical control systems etc. Electrician III is a supervisory role overseeing the activities of Electricians I and II positions.
Duties of the Electrician III technician position include but are not limited to these duties:
- Plan layout, estimation and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Tool and equipment maintenance, cleaning and upkeep.
- Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools and instruments or power tools.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
- Assist in training workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
- Tool and equipment maintenance, cleaning and upkeep.
- Excavating and trenching by hand or with equipment. Jack-hammering, saw cutting and removing of concrete, asphalt, and hard pan surfaces.
- Assist with measuring, cutting and installing electrical parts as directed by others.
- Working on electrical systems above, below and at ground level from 120v-480v.
- Permit inspection sign offs.
