About the position

The Shipping Associate supports the Logistics Manager and serves as a senior member of the shipping and receiving team. This role is responsible for coordinating daily shipping/receiving activities, ensuring compliant and accurate processing of incoming and outgoing materials, and providing guidance to junior team members. The Shipping Associate ensures high service levels to internal departments, supports inventory accuracy, and contributes to process improvements within the warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the execution of receiving tasks, ensuring accurate documentation, verification against purchase orders, invoices, packing slips, and/or RMAs.
  • Oversees preparation of shipments, including weighing, labeling, freight documentation, and final packaging for domestic and international orders.
  • Troubleshoots shipment discrepancies or delays and partners with carriers and vendors to resolve issues.
  • Coordinates kitting activities for production, ensuring accuracy and readiness for subassembly teams.
  • Ensures products are clean, serviceable, and meet quality standards prior to storage or shipment.
  • Performs and validates inventory control activities such as cycle counts, stock rotation, and reconciliation of variances.
  • Maintains an efficient, well-organized warehouse space and ensures compliance with safety and 5S principles.
  • Identifies workflow gaps and recommends improvements for efficiency, accuracy, and throughput.
  • Assists in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for shipping and receiving processes.
  • Serves as a resource to Shipping Clerks and new team members, providing training and daily direction.
  • Communicates proactively with internal stakeholders (Production, Procurement, Customer Support, etc.) regarding order status, material availability, and shipment timelines.
  • Stays one step ahead in communication regarding potential delays, inventory issues, or customer-impacting risks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of shipping and receiving experience in a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience processing complex shipments, including international freight.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including shipping software, ERP/MRP systems, and internet-based logistics tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional coursework or certification in logistics, supply chain, or warehousing preferred.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior team members preferred.
