Our Facilities Maintenance team plays a vital role in preserving and enhancing one of the nation’s premier cultural institutions. We are seeking a 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician I who takes pride in craftsmanship, problem-solving, and supporting a safe and welcoming environment for guests, staff, volunteers, and members.
This position supports the maintenance, repair, and operation of our facilities, grounds, and equipment. Working collaboratively with the Facilities Maintenance team, the Maintenance Technician I performs a variety of maintenance tasks while helping ensure our campus remains operational, attractive, and guest-ready.

What You’ll Do
Maintain Buildings, Grounds, and Equipment
- Perform regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including HVAC system checks, plumbing repairs, and basic electrical work
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and repair needs to minimize disruptions
- Perform preventative maintenance to extend the life and reliability of facilities and equipment
Support Campus Operations
- Collaborate with team members on maintenance projects and operational priorities
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of events, exhibitions, and public programs
- Support maintenance activities across indoor and outdoor campus environments
- Assist with resource planning and operational support activities
Maintain Safety and Operational Excellence
- Follow all organizational safety protocols and procedures
- Help maintain a safe and secure environment for visitors, staff, volunteers, and members
- Operate equipment and tools safely and responsibly
- Maintain organized workspaces and storage areas
Support Team and Organizational Success
- Demonstrate professionalism, strong communication, and teamwork
- Support the organization’s mission and commitment to public service
- Work collaboratively with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, members, and guests
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous maintenance experience required
- Basic computer skills
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct
Preferred Experience
- Two to five years of maintenance experience preferred
- Experience with facility, building, or grounds maintenance
- Experience with HVAC systems, plumbing repairs, and electrical maintenance
- Experience supporting preventative maintenance programs
- Experience working in public-facing, nonprofit, hospitality, educational, or institutional environments
