Part Time Learning Support Teacher

Pressman Academy is looking for an experienced special education teacher or educational therapist to work part time in our learning support department and as part of our new SAFA (Strategic and Focused Academics) program. This educator works flexibly as part of our learning support department and will teach strategic small groups, 1:1 sessions, and also provide push-in support to classes with the explicit goal of supporting students with various learning challenges. We will be reviewing and responding to applications when we return from our July break on 7/13/26.

Who are we?

Parents, students and teachers call Pressman Academy their second home, and we are proud to be a school that invests in providing teachers with a great place to work. Over the last 2 years Pressman has been working hard to re-think its learning support program with the aim of providing more comprehensive support to students with various learning challenges. Next year, we will launch a pilot program called “SAFA” (Strategic and Focused Academics; literally “Language” in Hebrew), which aims to provide students with a documented learning disability more intensive support during our school day. This program’s goal is to offer students who might otherwise not be able to have their needs met in our rigorous dual curriculum an opportunity to continue learning in a Jewish Day School.

Who are you?

You are an educator with a wealth of knowledge and experience teaching students with academic struggles and documented learning disabilities. You are trained in one or more specific programs designed to provide explicit instruction to students who need this level of support to make academic progress. You are a strong communicator and a team player who can collaborate with parents, students, and colleagues in service of student learning. You maintain a positive outlook while working with students and encountering challenges; you envision solutions that work for a range of stakeholders and think outside of the box to achieve your and your students’ goals. You are professional, organized, and a self-starter who is able to complete tasks independently whether given a specific assignment or working on your own initiative. Most importantly, you have a passion for educational equity and meeting the needs of all students, especially those who need the most support to thrive in school.
