Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Landscape Estimator to support bidding efforts for commercial landscape construction projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong estimating experience, a solid understanding of landscape construction and irrigation plans, and the ability to prepare accurate, professional proposals that support profitable project growth.
This position is focused on estimating, bidding, proposal preparation, and project handoff. Crew management is not required.
The base salary for this position is $100,000, with additional commission opportunities available.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor lead sites and other sources for relevant commercial bid opportunities.
- Maintain active placement on major builder and contractor RFP lists.
- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to evaluate project scope.
- Complete takeoffs, review quantities, and prepare detailed project estimates.
- Develop professional, thorough proposals that align with project requirements and profitability goals.
- Manage bid schedules to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain and update material cost information, subcontractor pricing, and estimating resources.
- Coordinate with internal production teams regarding project scope, constructability, material needs, and scheduling considerations.
- Collaborate with purchasing or procurement contacts to confirm material availability, pricing, and lead times.
- Assist with pre-construction turnover, including contract scope review and project handoff.
- Attend client pre-construction meetings as needed to support a smooth transition from estimating to production.
- Help identify potential scope gaps, exclusions, alternates, and value-engineering opportunities during the bidding process.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial landscape estimating.
- Strong understanding of landscape construction, irrigation systems, and related scopes of work.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape construction plans, irrigation plans, specifications, and bid documents.
- Knowledge of Central Oregon plant materials and regional landscape conditions preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Landscape industry vendor relationships and subcontractor knowledge preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional, collaborative approach when working with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Compensation
This position offers a base salary of $100,000, with commission opportunities available based on performance and project success.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in commercial landscape estimating, and comfortable managing multiple bids from initial opportunity through proposal submission and project handoff. This person should be able to work independently, communicate professionally, and contribute to a strong estimating process without direct crew management responsibilities.
