Position: Entry-Level Body & Paint Technician Job Description

Position Summary

The Entry-Level Body & Paint Technician assists the collision center team with vehicle repairs, paint preparation, cosmetic restoration, and shop support functions. This position is ideal for someone looking to start a career in automotive collision repair and refinishing while learning hands-on skills in a professional shop environment.

The ideal candidate is dependable, motivated to learn, detail-oriented, and interested in developing technical automotive repair skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist body technicians and painters with vehicle repair and refinishing processes
  • Perform sanding, masking, buffing, and paint preparation work
  • Support minor body repairs and cosmetic touch-ups under supervision
  • Prepare vehicles and parts for paint and refinishing
  • Maintain clean and organized work spaces, tools, and equipment
  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and safety standards
  • Assist with moving vehicles and maintaining shop flow
  • Participate in ongoing technical and safety training

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Automotive or technical school experience is a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Strong attention to detail and work ethic
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Preferred Skills

  • Prior shop or automotive experience preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with hand tools and shop equipment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Interest in pursuing collision repair certifications

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the shop for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Comfortable working around paint products, tools, and shop equipment
