Position: Entry-Level Body & Paint Technician Job Description
Position Summary
The Entry-Level Body & Paint Technician assists the collision center team with vehicle repairs, paint preparation, cosmetic restoration, and shop support functions. This position is ideal for someone looking to start a career in automotive collision repair and refinishing while learning hands-on skills in a professional shop environment.
The ideal candidate is dependable, motivated to learn, detail-oriented, and interested in developing technical automotive repair skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist body technicians and painters with vehicle repair and refinishing processes
- Perform sanding, masking, buffing, and paint preparation work
- Support minor body repairs and cosmetic touch-ups under supervision
- Prepare vehicles and parts for paint and refinishing
- Maintain clean and organized work spaces, tools, and equipment
- Follow manufacturer repair procedures and safety standards
- Assist with moving vehicles and maintaining shop flow
- Participate in ongoing technical and safety training
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Automotive or technical school experience is a plus
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail and work ethic
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Preferred Skills
- Prior shop or automotive experience preferred but not required
- Familiarity with hand tools and shop equipment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Interest in pursuing collision repair certifications
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the shop for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Comfortable working around paint products, tools, and shop equipment
