540 is seeking an experienced Technical Recruiter to support hiring across software engineering, cloud, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, data, and AI/ML disciplines. This individual will partner with recruiting leadership and hiring managers to build talent pipelines, source qualified candidates, conduct recruiter screens, and support hiring efforts for both cleared and uncleared roles.
This role is best suited for a recruiter with strong sourcing capabilities who is comfortable operating independently, managing multiple priorities, and supporting highly technical hiring needs within federal consulting and GovTech environments.
This position will begin as a contract engagement supporting the Talent team during a period of transition and growth. While the role is initially expected to last approximately 3–4 months, future opportunities for contract extension or full-time employment may be considered based on business needs and performance.
Location : Arlington, VA (hybrid) with in-person meetings 1-2x per week at 540 HQ
Citizenship Work Authorization : Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or otherwise authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
HOW YOU’LL DRIVE IMPACT
Partner with recruiting leadership and hiring managers to support full-cycle hiring efforts across technical and mission-focused roles
Develop sourcing strategies to identify and engage highly qualified candidates for niche technical positions
Build and maintain pipelines of software engineers, data engineers, DevSecOps engineers, cloud engineers, cybersecurity professionals, architects, and other technical talent
Conduct recruiter screens to assess candidate qualifications, experience, and alignment with role requirements
Create personalized outreach campaigns and proactively engage passive candidates through targeted sourcing strategies
Leverage AI-powered tools and emerging recruiting technologies to improve sourcing efficiency, analyze large candidate populations, automate repetitive tasks, and surface high-quality talent insights while applying strong human judgment and decision-making
Manage candidate activity and recruiting workflows within our ATS, Greenhouse
Support hiring efforts for both cleared and uncleared positions
Collaborate with recruiting leadership to improve sourcing strategies, hiring processes, and overall recruiting effectiveness
REQUIRED SKILLS EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience recruiting technical talent
Ability to evaluate candidate backgrounds and conduct effective recruiter screens
Demonstrated success sourcing passive candidates for difficult-to-fill technical positions
Experience recruiting within government contracting, GovTech, defense, or federal consulting environments
Familiarity with security clearances and federal hiring requirements
Experience recruiting for software engineering, cloud, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, data, AI/ML, or related technical disciplines
Strong LinkedIn Recruiter sourcing and Boolean search skills
Experience leveraging AI-powered tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar technologies) to improve recruiting efficiency and automate recruiting tasks
Experience managing multiple requisitions and competing priorities simultaneously
Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS EXPERIENCE
Experience recruiting in both agency and internal corporate talent acquisition environments
Experience using Greenhouse or similar ATS platforms
Experience using ClearanceJobs
