Position SummaryThe Accounting and Administrative Clerk is responsible for providing day-to-day accounting and administrative support to clients and internal teams, with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance. This role manages high-volume transactional work, client communications, payment-related activities, and general administrative support. Working directly with clients, the Accounting and Administrative Clerk processes and reconciles financial transactions within our proprietary system. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the ability to research and resolve discrepancies while delivering exceptional client service.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage daily email correspondence from clients and internal staff related to accounting inquiries, ensuring timely and professional responses.
- Maintain a strong understanding of transactional accounting principles, including debits and credits, to accurately process and reconcile client financial transactions.
- Support the resolution of accounting-related issues, including payment questions, account discrepancies, and client follow-ups.
- Process payment postings, adjustments, and corrections to ensure accurate financial records.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including tracking logs, notes, and audit support materials.
- Retrieve, sort, and distribute incoming mail from the company post office box, ensuring confidential documents and client correspondence are processed accurately, securely, and in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.
- Provide administrative support to management and leadership.
- Manage incoming correspondence when applicable and prepare reports, letters, and business documents.
- Prioritize workload effectively in a fast-paced environment, balancing daily operational tasks with time-sensitive deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with CMS, state, and client-specific requirements related to financial and accounting processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in client-facing situations.
- Ability to analyze data, research discrepancies, and document resolutions clearly.
- Comfortable working with confidential and sensitive financial information.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent work experience; or completion of a related technical/trade school program preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in an accounting, finance, or related operational support role required.
- Experience in healthcare, managed care, TPA, or PACE environments is a plus.
Location: This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in the Greater St. Louis area and be available for in-person business needs.
Employment Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
