CVOR Surgical Technologist (CST) – Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room environment for cardiovascular surgical procedures. Set up surgical instruments, supplies, and specialized CVOR equipment prior to surgery. Scrub and assist surgeons during open-heart and cardiovascular procedures. Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments, sutures, and supplies throughout the procedure. Assist with Cardiopulmonary Bypass (CPB), ECMO, and other advanced cardiovascular procedures. Perform instrument, sponge, and sharps counts according to surgical safety standards. Ensure proper handling, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, and OR staff to ensure safe and efficient patient care. Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to infection prevention and sterile technique protocols. Provide on-call coverage and float to affiliated hospitals as required. Required Documents / Certifications Active Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) CVOR Surgical Technologist experience Experience assisting with cardiovascular surgical procedures Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation Ability to participate in weekday and weekend on-call rotation Willingness to provide coverage at multiple facilities (Kendall, Mercy, and Aventura Hospitals) About Care Career
