High School Special Education Teacher in Mesa, AZ

This full-time, contract role is located near Mesa, AZ, and offers a dynamic environment across a variety of service settings, including Inclusion/SUCCESS classrooms, Practical Skills classrooms, a CBT Life Skills program, the STRIVE Autism program, and self-contained rooms. The position runs from July 27th, 2024, to May 21st, 2027, with a required CIE training from July 21st24th.

Qualifications:

Valid Arizona secondary teaching license

Current K-12 Special Education certificate

IVP fingerprint clearance card

Experience working with diverse student populations

Strong background supporting students with emotional disabilities

Proven ability implementing behavioral support strategies

Confident developing and writing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

Flexible and effective in both collaborative and self-contained teaching settings

Willingness to be on-site daily for the duration of the contract

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging instruction and behavioral support to high school students with a range of abilities and needs

Collaborate with teachers and staff to adapt curricula for inclusion, practical, autism, and self-contained classroom settings

Create individualized lesson plans and participate in IEP meetings, ensuring each student receives targeted supports

Build positive relationships with students while modeling resilience and empathy

Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and adjust strategies for maximum growth
