Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk accurately verifies incoming goods, processes and organizes inventory, and ensures that all materials are properly documented, packaged, and stored. This role supports smooth warehouse operations through careful measurement, data entry, and maintaining a clean and orderly receiving area.

Responsibilities

  • Verify all incoming goods against packing slips, identifying and documenting any shortages, overages, or damages.
  • Process new inventory by creating stock tickets and determining appropriate packaging requirements.
  • Measure product dimensions using both metric and US units to confirm specifications and support accurate documentation.
  • Organize and maintain clean, orderly, and safe receiving areas to support efficient warehouse operations.
  • Perform data entry tasks to create and update inventory records in the appropriate systems.
  • Support shipping activities by selecting orders, picking and packing products according to instructions.
  • Handle materials safely and efficiently, including loading, unloading, and moving products within the facility.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed, following all safety guidelines.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse team members to ensure timely and accurate shipment and receipt of goods.
  • Assist with inventory control activities, such as counting, labeling, and tracking stock levels.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Strong inventory control skills, including tracking, organizing, and documenting stock accurately.
  • Ability to verify goods against packing slips and identify discrepancies such as shortages or damages.
  • Proficiency in measuring product dimensions using both metric and US units.
  • Experience with order selection, picking, and packing to support timely order fulfillment.
  • Competence in material handling, including safe loading, unloading, and moving of products.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Solid data entry skills with attention to detail for creating and updating inventory records.
  • Strong organizational skills to keep receiving and storage areas clean, orderly, and well-structured.
  • Basic understanding of logistics and warehouse workflows.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a warehouse, distribution, or logistics environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems or warehouse management software.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling documentation and physical inventory.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with team members across shipping, receiving, and logistics functions.
  • Comfort with basic math for measurements, counts, and inventory reconciliation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.75 - $20.75/hr.
