Laborer / General Labor

J.L. Dunn & Company is an family owned and operated General Contractor located in Boston, MA seeking a full-time Laborer to join our team. Applicants must present professionally, be punctual, value quality work, and be team oriented. Growth opportunities are available based on performance and reliability.

This is an opportunity for work with a well-established General Contractor who prioritizes quality work, safety, and values the efforts of the workers who contribute to our projects everyday.

We are seeking a Laborer or Labor Foreman to provide general labor to:

  • Sweep, Clean, and Organize Construction Sites
  • Drive company Dump Truck to various sites to load out debris and drop off at recycling centers
  • Unload and move materials into jobsites
  • Perform various construction tasks with company provided tools depending on skill level
  • Assist Carpenters during installations. Learn from new construction skills from our staff Carpenters
  • Assist jobsite Superintendents with site safety, organization, and presentation
  • Work Hours: 7am – 3:30pm Monday thru Friday

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation to urban jobsites. Must be willing to commute into Boston daily
  • Strong communication skills and positive attitude
  • Ability to follow directions and to independently or with a team
  • Commitment to following company procedures to maintain a safe and clean jobsite
  • Interaction and coordination with project's Subcontractors to assist the successful delivery of a first class construction project
  • OHSA 10 Certification is a plus. Company sponsored training is available.
  • Hoisting and equipment operating licenses a plus
  • DOT license a plus

On Site Position & Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working on an active construction site with heavy machinery and constantly changing conditions. Candidates must be:

  • Physically Fit: Frequently climb scaffolding, stairs, and ladders.
  • Able to spend time in an outside environment with moderate to load noise level, temperate changes, and weather conditions
  • Hand Eye Coordination: Ability to sit for long periods of time if needed and perform fine motor skills using a keyboard, telephone, and writing
  • Strong Vision Requirements: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
