Position: Paramedic (Special Event) at OhioHealth

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care Activities (40%): Takes vital signs, measures intake and output; performs CPR, EKG, and obtains oxygen saturation; provides oxygen per physician order; assists with patient positioning, turning, and ADLs; transfers patients to diagnostic testing and inpatient units; responds to code assists; utilizes orthopedic equipment, applies bandages and restraints as ordered; performs compresses, heat and cold therapy; conducts postmortem care; irrigates NG tubes, inserts and maintains Foley catheters, performs peripheral venous access for lab draws and IV catheter placement per MD order;

cleanses wounds and applies sterile bandages; assists physician with suturing; discharges patient from the ED as directed by RN; documents interventions and patient responses.

  • Clinical Information System (40%): Interacts with all ED communication and information systems; enters orders and patient information; retrieves data; prepares and sends specimens; communicates with physicians, hospital departments, and other patient care resources; prepares and maintains physician call schedules; assists with data collection and documentation.
  • Equipment and Supply Maintenance (20%): Locates, cleans, and organizes EMS and emergency department equipment; prepares EMS equipment for shipping; restocks patient care and supply areas; identifies equipment needing repair, initiates work orders, and delivers equipment for repair; maintains forms and supplies.

Work Shift

Day shift, scheduled weekly hours as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED (Required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • State of Ohio EMT‑P licensure (Required)
  • Optional PALS, BTLS certifications
