Thank you for your interest in working at GEMS, Graham Elementary and Middle School! GEMS is looking for an SEL Teacher (K-8) for the 26-27 school year. We are an EL Education K-8 charter school in Columbus, Ohio located by The Ohio State University’s campus. Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Teacher to join our team. As an SEL Teacher, you will be responsible for implementing comprehensive social-emotional learning programs and supporting students' emotional well-being and development in an elementary school setting. You will work collaboratively with students, teachers, administrators, and parents to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes emotional intelligence, self-awareness, empathy, and interpersonal skills among students.

K-8 Classroom Teacher

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a school-wide social-emotional learning curriculum that aligns with the needs and developmental levels of elementary school students.

Facilitate engaging lessons and activities that promote students' understanding and application of social-emotional skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages open communication, respect, and empathy among students.

Conduct regular assessments to evaluate students' social-emotional competencies and provide individualized support and intervention as needed.

Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate social-emotional learning into core academic subjects, supporting a holistic approach to education.

Establish positive relationships with parents and guardians, offering guidance and resources to support their child's social-emotional development at home.

Implement strategies to address and prevent bullying, conflict resolution, and behavior management within the school community.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

Valid teaching certification or license.

Prior experience working with elementary school-aged children in an educational or counseling capacity.

Strong knowledge of social-emotional learning theories, methodologies, and best practices.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.

Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting students' social-emotional development.

Ability to create and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.

Familiarity with assessment tools and strategies to evaluate students' social-emotional competencies.

Knowledge of behavior management techniques and conflict resolution strategies.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

All classroom teachers are required to have a Bachelor’s degree (at minimum) and a valid Ohio teaching license.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

Valid Ohio Educator License related to instructional area

Pass BCI and FBI background check

Pass Educator Licensure conduct review
