The Opportunity:

This role is primarily focused on cost accounting within a manufacturing environment (~75%), with additional responsibility for general accounting and close activities (~25%).

The position partners closely with operations and production to deliver accurate cost insights and support decision-making.

What You'll Own:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly cost and margin reporting (revenue, COGS, productivity, profitability)
  • Perform variance analysis (actual vs standard/FIFO) and identify root causes
  • Maintain and update Bills of Materials, including labor and overhead components
  • Analyze overhead rates and cost allocation methods
  • Reconcile inventory and WIP between subledger and general ledger
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost modeling
  • Partner with operations to understand processes and improve cost accuracy

General Accounting

  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries (inventory, accruals, cost-related)
  • Perform account reconciliations and supporting analysis
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close
  • Support financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist with audits and related documentation
  • Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Standard costing and variance analysis
  • Inventory valuation and WIP reconciliation
  • Cost allocation and overhead analysis
  • Budgeting and forecasting (manufacturing-focused)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial analysis)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
  • Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders

Who We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of inventory flow, BOMs, and manufacturing cost structures
  • ERP system experience required (BC Business Central, Princity, ROBO Print, GreenPrint, or Print Manager Plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing or industrial industry experience
  • Experience supporting cost reduction or process improvement initiatives
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or operational efficiency programs
  • Advanced ERP reporting and data analytics experience

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing working among the warehouse staff
  • Prolonged periods of sitting working on computer
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to access and navigate production and warehouse areas as needed
