Responsibilities

Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and ensuring all equipment functions properly before procedures.

Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgeries while maintaining strict adherence to aseptic techniques.

Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to physiological changes during procedures.

Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures, including medical records and intraoperative data within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic.

Support infection control protocols by adhering to sterilization procedures and infection prevention standards.

Assist with patient care activities pre- and post-operation, including positioning patients and providing basic life support if necessary.

Collect data related to surgical procedures for quality assurance and analysis purposes.

Demonstrate proficiency in suturing techniques and basic physiology knowledge to support surgical teams effectively.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, pediatric care (Pediatrics), and critical care units such as ICU and PICU.

Ensure compliance with hospital policies regarding aseptic technique, infection control, and safety standards.
