About the Role
Our client, a prominent financial investigation firm based in Detroit, Michigan , is seeking an experienced Forensic Accountant to join their specialized team. This challenging role involves uncovering financial fraud, investigating complex financial disputes, and providing expert witness testimony. You will be responsible for analyzing financial records, tracing assets, quantifying damages, and preparing detailed reports that can withstand legal scrutiny. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional analytical skills, a meticulous attention to detail, and a strong understanding of accounting principles, fraud detection techniques, and legal procedures. Key Responsibilities Conduct in-depth financial investigations into allegations of fraud, embezzlement, and financial misconduct. Trace and recover misappropriated assets. Quantify economic damages in litigation and dispute resolution cases. Analyze complex financial data, including accounting records, bank statements, and transaction histories. Prepare comprehensive forensic accounting reports, detailing findings and supporting evidence. Assist legal counsel in case strategy and provide expert witness testimony in court proceedings. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies when necessary. Develop and implement fraud prevention strategies for clients. Maintain strict confidentiality and professional ethics throughout investigations. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years focused on forensic accounting, fraud examination, or litigation support. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, auditing standards, and fraud investigation techniques. Experience with forensic accounting software and data analysis tools. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation abilities. Ability to work independently and manage sensitive investigations with discretion. CPA, CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), or comparable certification is strongly preferred.
