JOB TITLE: Skilled Groundskeeper

REPORTING TO: Grounds and Landscaping Manager

DEPARTMENT: Facilities – CFA

LOCATION: Orangeburg, NY

POSITION OVERVIEW

New York City FC is seeking a Skilled Groundskeeper. This role will be responsible for supporting the management and delivery of grounds maintenance including landscaping services and the processes that support this operation at the CFA, Orangeburg, setting and ensuring the highest standards of safety and grounds maintenance.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Grounds Maintenance:
  • Responsible for ground maintenance and landscape tasks from start to completion including scoping the task, pricing and ordering materials, undertaking the work personally or coordinating and supervising others to ensure its timely completion
  • To ensure that the monthly/weekly planning and day to day operation for the delivery of grounds services at NYCFC sites is to the highest standard, in line with health and safety, legislative, environmental and certifying authorities’ compliance and best practice
  • To monitor the results of the grounds maintenance and landscape services and suggest and deliver improvements.
  • Safety & Compliance: To be responsible for ensuring all Health and Safety requirements for each task is in line with best practice and policy.
  • Equipment Care: Ensure all equipment, including mowers, trucks, and tractors, is maintained, repaired, and operational.
  • Communication: To work closely with partners and stakeholders in order to provide the most suitable environment for the users of grounds facilities.
  • Seasonal Duties: Oversee snow, ice, and debris removal.
  • Support pitch evaluation and testing at temporary stadium venues including that of MLS2
  • Assist the grounds team when required at the Willets Point Permanent stadium

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Pesticides Application PA1,2 and 6 spraying certificates
  • Demonstrable experience in a grounds maintenance role
  • NVQ Level 3 Sportsturf or working towards it
  • Ability to communicate verbally and literally to management and wider team members
  • A basic level of computer literacy including MS Office suite.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
  • Must be able to work games scheduled which may be at night and on weekends and holidays
  • This is a physically demanding job. Work is subject to extreme weather conditions, machinery, hazardous chemicals, dust, and noxious odors. You must be able to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Must be able to operate trade equipment, hand and power tools, and standard office equipment. Must be able to read printed materials and a computer screen.

COMPENSATION

This nonexempt position has an estimated annual base salary range of $53,000 – $57,000 and is overtime eligible. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise.
