Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Tacoma, WA for SRW Block Retaining Wall Laborers and Wall Foreleaders. Team members assist in layout, excavation, base preparation, and installation of SRW block and related components, following project plans and safety standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include material handling, operating hand tools and light equipment, ensuring proper drainage and backfill placement, and maintaining a clean, organized jobsite. Wall Foreleaders additionally coordinate crew activities, communicate with supervisors and engineering staff, monitor quality and productivity, and help resolve site issues in real time. All personnel are expected to follow company safety policies, support a respectful work environment, and contribute to efficient project completion.
Qualifications
- Practical construction skills in retaining wall or hardscape installation, including grading, base preparation, block placement, and basic carpentry or concrete-related tasks.
- Ability to safely use hand tools and small equipment (e.g., compactors, saws, skid steers or similar machinery), with strong attention to jobsite safety and OSHA-compliant practices.
- Physical capability to perform sustained manual labor, including lifting heavy materials, working outdoors in varied weather, and standing or bending for extended periods.
- Basic math and measurement skills for reading layout, checking grades, and interpreting simple drawings or instructions; familiarity with SRW systems is a plus.
- Leadership and communication abilities for Foreleader roles, including crew coordination, task planning, time management, and clear, respectful communication with team members and supervisors.
- Reliability and professionalism, including consistent attendance, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively with diverse crews.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Tacoma-area jobsites; eligibility to work in the United States.
- Previous experience in retaining walls, earthwork, landscaping, or construction is preferred, but motivated candidates with related experience and strong work ethic are encouraged to
