DEFINITION:
Performs various patient care tasks and uses non-professional skills to assist the physician in providing care of the patient in an outpatient setting. Under the supervision of a licensed nurse and/or the physician, the Medical Assistant performs delegated tasks and procedures of patient care, involving the physical, psychological, social, emotional, safety, and security needs of the patient. Facilitates the appropriate registration, appropriate documentation for billing/collection purposes and clerical duties that are location specific.
This is a safety sensitive position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have High School diploma or GED. Must have completed a course in medical assisting with a resulting diploma or certificate of course completion. Requires excellent communication and organizational skills. Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of physician office experience with active regional or national certification for medical assistant.
