Payroll Tax Accountant (6-Month Contract)

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Tax Accountant for a 6-month contract assignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage state income tax registrations across 40+ states for all company entities.
  • Coordinate state unemployment tax registrations and account maintenance.
  • Maintain payroll tax account numbers, filing requirements, and deposit schedules within the UKG payroll system.
  • Ensure accurate and timely setup of payroll tax accounts and related payroll system updates.
  • Maintain detailed records of payroll tax registrations, credentials, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
  • Partner with Payroll, HR, Accounting, and other departments to resolve payroll tax matters.
  • Support payroll tax audits, notices, and special projects as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll accounting or payroll tax experience.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll tax registration and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
