The Department of Social Work at Texas Christian University seeks new scholars to help build on the Department of Social Work’s history of success in our thriving BSW and MSW programs, and who are willing to contribute to interdisciplinary, interprofessional, and community-engaged teaching, scholarship, research, and service. We are seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position – at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
The Department of Social Work at TCU is committed to supporting faculty with diverse research agendas and teaching philosophies in order to create a robust educational and research environment. We are particularly interested in applicants with research, practice, or teaching experience with diverse and historically underserved individuals, families, and communities.
This full-time, 9-month tenure-track position will begin in August 2027. Responsibilities include a 2-3 teaching load across the BSW and MSW programs, maintaining an active research agenda, and engaging in university and professional service.

Housed within the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences at TCU, the Department of Social Work prepares graduates for beginning and advanced social work practice in Texas and beyond. Our programs are rigorous and our faculty provide a comprehensive and interactive in-person and online education. Our curriculum is informed by a recognition of the critical importance of diversity and an understanding of cultural, political, and socio-historical contexts for social work education, practice, and research. Being a part of the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences provides numerous opportunities for collaborative interdisciplinary research and educational programming. In addition to the undergraduate BSW program, the Department of Social Work also offers both the traditional two-year MSW program as well as an advanced standing MSW option. All social work programs are accredited and have been reaffirmed by CSWE through June 2033.

The Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences consists of programs that prepare future health care and human services professionals. The academic units within Harris College – Applied Health Sciences, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Occupational Therapy, Kinesiology, Nurse Anesthesia, Nursing, and Social Work – are home to 1,900 students who are supported by committed and talented faculty and staff. The faculty and students at Harris College actively engage in research for the purpose of improving health and well-being. Undergraduate and graduate students have opportunities to form mentoring relationships with internationally recognized faculty as they conduct studies in such areas as pharmacogenetics, carbohydrate metabolism, exercise physiology, health disparities, heart disease, aging, Parkinson’s disease, caregiving, language development in children with hearing loss, and forgiveness among others.
