Compensation: $70,000-$90,000 per year, DOE

About the Role

Block LLP is looking for an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our Habitability and Tenant Rights team.

In this role, you will support attorneys with plaintiff-side cases involving unsafe housing conditions, landlord negligence, tenant harassment, wrongful eviction, and other housing-related disputes. You will assist with case management, discovery, drafting, court filings, client communication, settlement preparation, and trial preparation.

This role is a great fit for a litigation paralegal who has experience with habitability, tenant-rights, landlord-tenant, housing, eviction-related, or plaintiff-side civil litigation matters and wants to do meaningful work helping tenants and families pursue safe housing and justice.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing deadlines, documents, and client communication in a fast-paced law firm environment.

What You’ll Do

Support attorneys through all phases of habitability, tenant-rights, landlord-tenant, and housing-related litigation

Draft and prepare pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, correspondence, and other legal documents

Assist with discovery requests, responses, document review, and document production

File legal documents with the court and track important deadlines

Maintain litigation calendars and help ensure deadlines are met

Organize and update case files, evidence, records, and client documents

Gather and review documents such as photos, inspection reports, repair requests, leases, notices, medical records, and other supporting evidence

Communicate with clients to gather information, documents, and case updates

Coordinate with attorneys, clients, experts, inspectors, contractors, medical providers, opposing counsel, and court personnel

Assist with settlement preparation, mediations, hearings, arbitration, and trial preparation

Prepare exhibits, trial binders, case summaries, and other litigation materials as needed

Maintain accurate case notes and updates in the firm’s case management system

Provide professional, compassionate, and timely communication to clients

Assist with additional litigation and administrative tasks as needed
