The Electrical Technician ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant equipment by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is primarily focused on electrical and instrumentation systems, with opportunities for skill and pay progression through a multi craft wage progression program.
First Shift Position: 7:30am-4:00pm, with off-shift coverage as needed.
A Day in the Life
Your work helps keep production running safely and reliably while reinforcing a strong culture of operational excellence. As an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician, you will:
- Promote a strong safety culture by identifying hazards, following safe work practices, and complying with electrical, instrumentation, and plant safety standards.
- Install, inspect, test, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical power distribution, instrumentation, and control systems-ranging from medium voltage equipment and motor control to low voltage PLC based control circuits.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, drives, switchgear, transformers, field instruments, control valves, and associated control systems to support reliable unit operations.
- Execute planned and emergent work by reviewing job scopes, staging materials and tools, safely isolating equipment, and completing work in accordance with company, engineering, and industry standards.
- Diagnose equipment and system failures using electrical theory, drawings, schematics, and diagnostic test equipment, and implement effective, lasting repairs.
- Partner with operations, engineering, and supervision to coordinate work, minimize downtime, and support startup, commissioning, and equipment changes.
- Document completed work, findings, and recommendations in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), contributing to improved equipment reliability and maintenance strategies.
- Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives by identifying recurring issues and opportunities to enhance safety, performance, and maintainability.
You Bring This Value
- A High school diploma/GED
- Typically, 3-5 years of hands-on electrical and instrumentation manufacturing maintenance experience.
- Strong electrical aptitude with experience in troubleshooting and repairing process equipment.
- Ability to work under challenging conditions, including heavy lifting, confined spaces, elevated heights, noisy environments, and extreme weather.
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, call-outs, and turnaround shifts (day or night) with short notice.
- Self-motivated and accountable, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach that prioritizes safety and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed electrical apprenticeship or technical certification in electrical, instrumentation, or automation technology.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial control and power distribution systems
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Stand on feet for 8-12 hours
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required and supplied by the company.
- Ability to work in moderate noise level atmosphere
