Job Title: Industrial Painter
Department: Rental Operations
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: N. Las Vegas, NV
Reports To: Warehouse Manager
Position Summary
The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing aluminum trusses, metal bins, and other metal components using industrial spray-painting techniques. This position ensures products meet quality standards through proper surface preparation, coating application, equipment maintenance, and inspection procedures. The Industrial Painter maintains a safe and organized work environment, manages paint-related inventory, and supports general warehouse operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities as a Painter
- Prepare metal surfaces for painting by cleaning, degreasing, sanding, grinding, and removing rust or old coatings.
- Mask and protect areas that should not be painted.
- Mix paints, primers, and coatings according to manufacturer specifications.
- Apply primers, paints, and protective coatings using spray-painting equipment.
- Operate and maintain spray guns, pressure pots, pumps, and other painting equipment.
- Inspect finished products to ensure proper coverage, color consistency, and quality standards.
- Touch up painted surfaces as needed.
- Monitor paint inventory and notify supervisors when supplies need replenishment.
- Maintain a clean and organized paint area and work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures related to painting operations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Dispose of paint waste and cleaning materials according to environmental and company regulations.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous industrial, manufacturing, automotive, commercial, or powder-coating painting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, paint application methods, and coating systems.
- Experience using spray-painting equipment, including airless, conventional, or HVLP spray systems preferred.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, product specifications, and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to inspect finished products and identify defects or inconsistencies.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds independently and heavier loads with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required to safely operate spray-painting equipment, hand tools, and related equipment.
- Ability to work in a warehouse or industrial environment with exposure to dust, paint fumes, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to wear and properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, protective clothing, and safety-toe footwear.
- Ability to distinguish colors and identify coating inconsistencies to ensure quality standards are met.
- Stamina to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.
Working Conditions
This position is performed in a warehouse environment with seasonal temperature fluctuations, frequent exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment. Shift schedules may include early mornings, late evenings, or weekends depending on business needs.
