Position Summary
The Texas Girls School is seeking a compassionate, highly skilled, and deeply organized Special Education Teacher to serve as the cornerstone of inclusive learning for our students. This teacher provides both pull-out resource instruction and push-in inclusion support for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and serves as the campus provider of dyslexia instruction, delivering structured, multi sensory, evidence-based intervention aligned with the LEA’s adopted instructional materials and 19 TAC §74.28(d). The teacher partners closely with the Director of Special Education and a dedicated paraprofessional to ensure every girl at TTGS has equitable access to rigorous, relationship-centered learning.
The ideal candidate is a systems-minded practitioner who brings equal precision to paperwork and to people — someone who understands that a well-written IEP, followed with fidelity by every adult on campus, is one of the most powerful tools we have for changing a student’s trajectory. This role requires fluency in dyslexia-informed instruction, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to coach and educate colleagues on how to implement accommodations and behavioral intervention plans with consistency and care.
At TTGS, Special Education is not siloed — it is woven into the fabric of who we are as a school. This teacher helps build a campus where every student feels seen, supported, and set up for success.

- Support paraprofessional staff assigned to inclusion minutes, providing guidance on how to support students effectively and discreetly
- Ensure IEP accommodations and modifications are implemented consistently in inclusive settings
- Model relationship-centered, strengths-based language and interaction for all campus staff
IEP Development & Compliance
- Draft, finalize, and maintain legally compliant IEPs that reflect accurate present levels, measurable annual goals, and appropriate services
- Coordinate and facilitate IEP meetings, ARD committee meetings, and related documentation with precision and professionalism
- Partner with the Director of Special Education on compliance tracking, timelines, state reporting, and required evaluations
- Maintain organized, audit-ready SPED documentation including prior written notices, evaluation reports, meeting summaries, and service logs
- Ensure all IEP documents reflect current student data, are completed on time, and are communicated clearly to families
Staff Training & IEP/BIP Implementation Fidelity
- Serve as a knowledgeable, approachable resource for general education colleagues on how to implement IEP accommodations and Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) with fidelity
- Provide brief, practical training and check-ins to help staff understand and apply each student’s plan in day-to-day instruction
- Create accessible, campus-friendly IEP “snapshots” or one-pagers that communicate key accommodations and behavioral supports clearly to all relevant teachers
- Collaborate with campus leadership to embed SPED awareness and compliance into staff onboarding, professional development, and PLCs
- Proactively identify and resolve gaps in implementation through observation, coaching, and team communication
Dyslexia-Specific Instruction & Support
