As an Electrical Engineer, COTS/Sensor at Carbon Robotics you’ll be a key part of the team that designs and manages the eyes and ears of our robots. You will lead the selection, integration, and validation of the sensors and industrial components that allow our Laserweeder and autonomous systems to navigate rugged agricultural environments. You’ll do whatever it takes - which might include going to the farm - to ensure our customers have reliable and safe products .

What you’ll do:

Identify and evaluate high performance sensors (LiDAR, Radar, IMU, GPS, Cameras), and industrial and automotive components (PLCs, power supplies, automotive ethernet switches) to meet the rigorous demands of 24/7 farming.

Own the hardware lifecycle of these COTS components. This includes everything from research, vendor qualification, trade studies, mechanical and electrical integration, software integration (with software engineering team), testing, and in field support.

Work closely with the test engineers to define and execute component and integrated system qualification test plans to ensure our equipment can perform no matter the conditions.

Drive technical relationships with COTS suppliers and CM’s to ensure hardware availability and quality.

Both lead and support key technical decision making through project planning, and cross-functional problem solving

Prototype, debug, and iterate electrical designs through hands-on testing and automated verification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:

3+ years experience as an Electrical Engineer

Experience with LiDAR, Radar, cameras, GNSS, IMUs, PLCs, automotive ethernet, and/or automotive cameras

Experience with sourcing and qualifying components for high-reliability systems

Experience with managing vendor and manufacturer relationships

Experience with Altium Designer (v18+)

Experience with component to wire harness design and integration

Experience with with Capital a plus

Hands on experience in hardware debug and automated verification

Experience designing systems for harsh outdoor environments is a plus

Experience with SolidWorks and Jira is a plus

Demonstrated ability to work with a team to achieve timely objectives

Awareness of industry standards and regulations (SAE, ISO, IPC, etc.)

Effective verbal and written communication skills and a desire to work in multidisciplinary teams

BS+ in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field

Carbon Robotics follows equitable hiring practices. Flexibility in our hiring process allows hiring of talent at levels different from what are posted. The compensation range outlined is based on a target budgeted base salary. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as relevant experience and skill, Interview assessments and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements. Offers are determined using our equitable hiring practices. Carbon Robotics offers additional compensation in the form of benefits premiums, pre-IPO stock options and On Target Earning commissions for appropriate positions. Base pay ranges are reviewed each year. We are committed to the principle of pay equity – paying employees equitably for similar work.

Carbon Robotics' base salary pay range:

$125,000 $145,000 USD
