Here at Scout Motors, we're carrying forward the heritage of one of the most iconic American vehicles in history. A vehicle dating back to 1960. One that forged the path for future generations of rugged SUVs and trucks and will do so once again.

But Scout is more than just a brand, it’s a legacy steeped in a culture of exploration, caretaking, and hard work.

The Scout brand is all about respect. Respect for the past and the future by taking an iconic American brand that hasn’t been around for a while, electrifying it, digitizing it, and loading it with American innovation. Respect for communities by creating a company that stands for its people and its customers. Respect for both work and play, with vehicles that are equally at home at a camp site, a job site, or on a Tuesday commute. And respect for our customers by developing two powertrains that meet their requirements — an all-electric powertrain as well as the Harvester™ range extender powertrain which includes a built-in gas-powered generator with an estimated 500 miles of combined range.

At Scout Motors, we empower our talented, inclusive, and entrepreneurial teams to innovate. What makes a Scout employee? Someone who is a visionary and a leader, who seeks new paths and shares lessons learned. A knowledgeable doer who collaborates across the company to build better. A go-getter with unrivaled passion.

Overview

As a Senior Staff Frontend Engineer on the Customer Experience team, you will set the technical direction for the customer-facing experiences that define how people buy a vehicle with us. You will own the frontend architecture across our purchase journey, covering trade-in, vehicle configuration, finance and leasing, and delivery, building interfaces that are fast, accessible, and designed to convert at every step.

This is a role with outsized influence. You will shape how the team thinks about UI architecture, component systems, performance, and the craft of building web experiences that customers trust with high-stakes decisions. You will work across engineering, product, and design to raise the bar on what great looks like and build the foundations that let the team move faster without sacrificing quality.

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

Define and drive the frontend architecture across the customer purchase journey, making deliberate decisions about component design, state management, rendering strategy, and application structure that the team builds on for years.

Build high-quality, performant customer-facing experiences end-to-end, from pixel-perfect UI implementation through API integration, error handling, and production monitoring.

Own the frontend performance and reliability bar: Core Web Vitals, load time, rendering performance, and the resilience of the UI when backend services or third-party integrations are degraded.

Lead the evolution of our shared component library and design system, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and developer ergonomics across all customer-facing surfaces.

Partner deeply with product and design, shaping interaction patterns and UX decisions from a technical perspective and pushing back when proposed experiences would compromise performance, accessibility, or maintainability.

Drive cross-team frontend initiatives, establishing standards and patterns that other teams building customer surfaces adopt and benefit from.

Conduct deep code and design reviews, author frontend architectural decision records, and establish the engineering practices that define quality for the team.

Mentor and grow senior frontend engineers, expanding their architectural thinking, design system instincts, and ownership of the customer experience.

Champion accessibility and inclusive design as first-class engineering requirements, not post-launch afterthoughts.

Champion pragmatic AI-assisted development, evaluating tools, setting team norms, and helping engineers use them effectively across the UI development lifecycle.
