Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure comfort and dignity
- Support patients with mobility using manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts to promote safety during transfers
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary to promote proper nutrition
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed
- Support medication administration under supervision or as trained, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to care plans
- Engage with residents or clients to provide emotional support, companionship, and social interaction that fosters a positive environment
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs is essential for effective care delivery
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia (including Alzheimer’s disease), or neurodevelopmental disorders enhances your ability to provide specialized care
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and privacy in all aspects of patient care
- Hands-on experience with manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts and performing basic first aid or CPR is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs, medication administration, meal preparation, and light housekeeping supports comprehensive caregiving skills
- Strong communication skills and compassion are vital for working effectively with diverse populations across senior care, geriatrics, hospice care, or social work settings
